Feel like a Princess
When it comes to your 'big day' Indy suggests your hair should be way down the list of things to worry about...
Ideally you will have planned your dream hair style eighteen months ago when you accepted your fiancée's proposal! At that stage your hairdresser would have advised you on different styles to suit your face and dress and as the big day approaches your locks will be in fabulous condition with the perfect colour and no root re-growth. You should feel confident as your trial run goes perfectly which leaves just two last worries – the weather and will he will turn up - oops sorry about that one!
Of course you want to feel like a princess or look like a movie star, but try to remember the man you are about to marry already thinks you are! Don't try to look like somebody you aren't, enhance your natural beauty, you will feel so much more comfortable and you won't have to worry about him running back down the isle because he met Princess Fiona (Shrek) - ok, a bit shallow of me, I apologise Fiona!
The message is - Prepare your hair styling so you can forget about it. My journey with any bride starts with an informal chat to discuss when and where the ceremony will take place, the style of dress, veil and accessories and we discuss ideas. A second meeting is booked to practice different styles with the bride taking photographs to peruse later. The final trial is obviously the finished look when step by step photographs are taken for me to refer to on the day to replicate the exact look.
'Wedding hair' changes from a fashion point of view, a while back very formal hair up was the look, quite strict, tight, neat and smoothed. Next was the 'eezy-breezy' with hair styled softly with movement, rose type curls and pre-raphaelite waves. Currently we are using both, classic structure gives support and a base for a contemporary look whilst adding a twist of casual to keep it modern, individual and with personality. We are using a lot more false hair and braids to fill out buns and chignons and woven in for added texture.
I recently visited a client for advice, Susanne of Bradgate Brides. She told me brides are tending to move away from tiaras and opting for hair accessories, particularly those worn to complement the popular 'side chignon'. The vintage style dress is very of the moment with long lace trains which really do make you feel like a princess.
So, if you are planning on getting wed, make sure you and your hairdresser plan ahead and work together so you feel confident that you will look and feel your best.
