If you’re finding that planning a wedding in your local vicinity is proving too much of a challenge, then maybe you should think about crossing the seas to tie the knot! With hundreds of ideal locations to choose from and specialists on hand to help find just the right place for you, it’s never been easier to live the dream. If on the other hand, you’re choosing the more traditional route and planning to marry in the UK, then here are some tips on selecting your perfect honeymoon destination.

You need to set your travel budget, taking into consideration your preferences in terms of destination and style of honeymoon, what time of year are you planning to get
married? If your dream honeymoon turns out to be bang in the middle of monsoon season, then maybe you need to think again. Accomodation; are you looking for an all-inclusive or boutique hotel, beach hut or villa? Where would you like to fly from? (Or maybe you would prefer rail travel, and take a trip on the world famous Orient Express!)

Whatever you are looking for, you can be sure it’s out there, so here are a few of the World’s most popular honeymoon destinations;

Bohemian, beguiling and exotic Bali is bursting with 5-star resorts, blissful beaches and warm waters, with a volcanic centre to be explored! Hippyish towns with street markets, art galleries and cafes, Bali has a gentle and relaxed atmosphere which makes it a perfect spot to stop and honeymoon!

One of the biggest honeymoon hotspots is the Caribbean, with a collection of islands waiting to be explored. Once again, if lazing on a sun-kissed beach of fine sand, with a cocktail in hand is what appeals, then this could be for you. Watersports galore, from wrecks to reefs, from snorkelling and diving to sailing and water-skiing, there is a combination of fun and tranquility to be enjoyed in these parts.

The Maldives; an idyllic dreamy destination with hip hotels (some of the most romantic on the planet), spas, watersports and generally lots of pampering; good to be spoilt on honeymoon!

Mauritius; once again, all-singing, all-pampering honeymoon paradise, with the sparkling Indian Ocean, reality-escaping spa treatments and the greenest golf courses around. (Try the Heritage Golf and Spa Resort, where you will be treated like a star!)

Mexico; why go to Mexico after all that talk of paradise? For the same reasons the Hollywood A-listers of course! For romance, fabulous food (forget the pre-wedding diet now!), culture and fiestas! Yes, here you can combine blissful beach resorts with jungle exploration, whale-watching, and nightlife action in the party towns of the South.

Finally, we musn’t forget the Seychelles, the little piece of Heaven on Earth, with silky-white sands, turquoise seas and untouched corners for nature-lovers to discover and unwind in. The Sainte Anne Resort and Spa boasts elegant villas, a Clarins spa, tropical gardens and beach restaurants, promising a honeymoon altogether apart from reality, in one of the most exotic and romantic locations in the world.

If you really want to go to town, consider this; you can sail into the sunset on your hired yacht, rent a penthouse, stay in a castle, enjoy the services of your own butler, travel in style; private jet or helicopter. As I hinted at earlier, the world is your oyster here.

It’s your honeymoon - make it the trip of a lifetime!
