Francesca Barone suggests a cruise ship for the perfect honeymoon destination...

Your honeymoon is possibly one of the most anticipated and exciting trips you will ever plan. After the build-up and effort you put into arranging your dream wedding day, the last thing you really want to be worrying about is the 'nitty-gritty' of arranging your trip, so let me relieve you of that pressure.

In my opinion there really isn't a more romantic way to travel than on board a cruise ship – out on the ocean waves, with an eternally changing view of land and sea. The spine-tingling excitement whilst standing up on deck in the arms of your loved one, sipping a cocktail, watching another breath-taking sunset, looking forward to the new experiences/ adventures that await you at the next destination you will wake up to. Allow yourselves the luxury of relaxing in sumptuous surroundings with your every need attended to, where else, but on board a cruise ship you would have the amazing opportunity to visit a thrilling array of ports and need to unpack only once?

When travelling at the ultra-luxury end of the market, which are predominantly the smaller more intimate style of ships such as Silversea Cruises, Seabourn, Regent Seven Sea Cruises, SeaDream Yacht Club and Crystal Cruises, you are likely to be on an all-inclusive basis. This means the cost of your cruise, flights, transfers, drinks, entertainment, tips/gratuities are provided as a total cost which makes financial planning a lot easier. There are a limited selection of ships where you can be married on board and some cruise lines that offer private islands for weddings or vow renewals. These do tend however, to be on the larger more mass market ships.

The key things you need to consider in order to pinpoint the right ship for you are: time of year (which to an extent will dictate the destination), duration and approximate budget (have you considered asking for 'donations' to your honeymoon instead of gifts?) What is offered in relation to actual honeymoon packages on board varies from one line to another and ship to ship. Once your requirements have been discussed in depth and an understanding reached of what you are hoping to achieve from your honeymoon of a lifetime, a reputable travel agent is able to narrow down the options of what will be the optimum cruise experience to provide you with picture postcard memories for a lifetime.

There really is no right or wrong age to cruise these days – there's a ship out there to suit everyone! I would be delighted to assist with the organisation and booking of your honeymoon or any of your future travel requirements.
